Wellness Coach
Position: Wellness Coach
Reports To: Kay Maynard, Director of Child Nutrition and Wellness
Employment Term: Current Calendar School Year
Compensation: $250 per semester
Purpose:
Studies have shown workplace programs significantly improve long-term health; reduce absenteeism and health care costs, minimize job related accidents and improve employee morale. A Wellness program could make your school a healthier and more productive environment for faculty and students.
Qualifications:
Must be a professional employee who is employed at the school/facility site.
Responsibilities:
1. Must organize, implement, and document a minimum of 4 wellness activities during each semester. One must be for employees and the other three must be student related activities. Student activities may be held in conjunction to PE/Gym, Cafeteria nutrition programs, or school environment related. Wellness coaches will provide information to school staff outlining various wellness activities at the beginning of the school year. A plan will also be submitted to the Office of School Nutrition.
2. Must schedule and coordinate Fitness/Health/Wellness Fair at the school site. This will consist of coordinating a date and time with the Principal and participating organizations and communicating information about the fair.
3. Must attend a minimum of 4 school wellness council meetings throughout the school year. Failure to attend will affect amount of stipend. School Wellness Councils will be determined by the principal and may be added to an existing council such as LSIC, School Improvement Committee, etc. The Wellness Council will review and select appropriate wellness activities to be conducted during the school year.
4. Must attend up to but no more than 4 meetings with representative(s) from community partners and agencies and potential wellness activities will be addressed. These meetings will be coordinated with the Mingo County Wellness Committee Meetings and will occur outside the regular work day.
5. In addition to promoting county state and national policies, the wellness coach will support innovative health, wellness and breakfast initiatives along with other wellness initiatives.
6. Must implement Initiatives/grant in assigned school.
7. Must annually complete and submit a Healthy Schools Inventory/Assessment and all Wellness Activity Reports to the Child Nutrition Department.
8. Must complete all necessary paperwork and submit by the deadlines as provided by the Office of Child Nutrition.
